Seton People

George Seton George Seton (d.1583)
Helped Mary, Queen of Scots escape after the murder of David Rizzio, and again from her imprisonment in Loch Leven Castle. A famous portrait of him hangs in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. His wife, Mary, was commemorated in song as one of the Queen’s “Four Marys”.

Lord Pitmedden (1639-1719)
A famous Scottish judge and member of the Seton family with a taste for the macabre. He contributed a “Treatise of Mutilation and Demembration and Their Punishments” to the 1699 edition of “Laws and Customs”.
