Moncrieffe People

Charles Kenneth (C.K.) Scott-Moncrieff ( 18891930)
Scottish writer, most famous for his English translation of most of Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu, which he published under the Shakespearean title Remembrance of Things Past. Scott-Moncrieff's magnificent Proust translation (volumes 1 through 6 of the seven) has earned him a place as one of the greatest translators of all time.

Member of Parliament, also Under-Secretary for Finance in the Department of Health and Social Security from 1977 to 1982.
