Munro People

Alexander Munro (1605-1653)
A minister at Durness, he committed the bible stories to Gaelic, to enable his parishioners to read them.

Ebeneezer Munro (1752-1825)
Claimed to have fired the first shot in the American War of Independence.

James Munro (circa 19th Century)
President of the United States between 1817 and 1825.

Donnie MunroDonnie Munro
Lead singer and guitarist with Gaelic folk-rock group, Runrig. He has recently announced that he is to leave the group to follow a political career. In 1997 he made an unsuccessful attempt to win the Skye constituency for Labour.
