Terms & Conditions
We have carefully chosen a selection of products. Buy with confidence, we offer a full exchange/refund policy on any item returned in perfect condition within 28 days. (This may not apply to Kilts or other made to order purchases)
Returns & Refunds
Under the conditions set out in the EEC directives on distance selling. (Consumer Protection (distance selling) Regulations 2000) we offer the following:
A 7 day customer ‘cooling off’ period and right to cancel*
Right to return goods if not satisfied (provided they are still in ‘new’ condition)*
Written verification of purchases
Money back within 30 days of return of goods*
*These rights are not applicable to ‘made to measure’ (1) goods as these are marked as exceptions in the above regulations and returns in this instance will only be accepted if merchandise is proven to be defective or of an unacceptable standard.
Please note – If you are returning goods from overseas please ensure to mark the parcel as ‘RETURNED GOODS’ otherwise they will be subject to import duty
For more information on this act you should visit the DTI website.
(1) Made to measure/order goods include the following: Kilts, Waistcoats/Vests or other tailored goods, Wool Strip Ribbon, Cut to length material, All engraved to order goods, all other items marked on the site as ‘made to order’.
Refunds: We can offer either full or partial refunds depending on whether a whole or part of an order has been returned or canceled. Refunds are made using Worldpay’s administration system and can only be issued in the currency that the customer has made their purchase in. Refunds can only be made up to the full amount of the original purchase. If the customer pays using a different currency from the one their bank statements are shown in then variations can occur due to exchange rate fluctuations. ScotClans cannot take responsibility for these fluctuations.
Verified Pricing Policy
Please note that we are a UK based company so transactions are carried out in UK Sterling currency, currency converters on our site are a guide only and can vary depending on exchange rate fluctuations
This provides protection against tampering with the website and fraud for both ScotClans and our customers.
Delivery of Goods
Many of the items we feature on the site are made to order from small independent suppliers, or supplied using ‘just in time purchasing’, therefore you should expect delivery to take around 14 days for UK based customers and 28 days for overseas as standard. Express delivery times are given as the time it takes from dispatch – as many items are gathered in from suppliers you should check with the site on turnaround times. You should also note that Kilt orders can take 6-8 weeks under normal conditions as these are made to measure garments made to very high standards.
However, if you are looking to place an order and you need the item in a hurry then let us know, in some cases we can persuade the manufacturer to give the order priority or for them to ship directly to you (there is normally a 10% surcharge on rushed orders which is charged on dispatch). If you need more information please contact us first.
In all cases delivery is subject to availability – we will do our best to make sure goods are delivered as quickly as possible but as we are dealing with small manufacturing and craft businesses they do sometimes run out of stock – this is beyond our control.
Important Information Regarding the Import of Goods
If you are outside the EEC (European Economic Community) then you will not be charged VAT, however you may be liable to pay import duty on purchases over a given amount (set by your country of entry). Taxes are set by individual governments are not under our control. All goods sent are delivered ‘Duty unpaid’. All other carriage charges are covered in your cost of purchase.
ScotClans provides this security statement to give you peace of mind while you shop on our site.
Why shopping at ScotClans is so safe:
Web browsers can operate in “normal” mode and in “secure” mode. You can tell which mode your browser is in by looking at the toolbar at the bottom of the browser window. If you see a broken key, or an open padlock – or indeed nothing at all, you are in normal mode. If the key is whole, or the padlock is closed, you are in “secure” mode, this is known as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
When you surf the Net in “normal” mode, all the information you type into your browser and all the information the Web site sends to you is visible to eavesdroppers. When the browser is in “secure” mode it encrypts all the information between itself and the server providing the page you are viewing. Encrypted information looks like meaningless garbage to eavesdroppers, so your personal information is secure.
ScotClans supports industry standard Internet encryption 40 bit SSL when you make an order from our site, with the credit card details being encrypted using a 448 bit asymmetric key. In addition the website software that ScotClans uses holds a digital certificate from Thawte that is compatible with Netscape and Microsoft browsers.
When you enter your details on the order form, your browser will automatically inform you that encryption is being used. Furthermore, all data stored on our secure order server is protected by a firewall. All credit card details are kept encrypted at all times and only used when processing the order.
