people kept stealing the original sign so this stone was put up instead.It was named 'Electric Brae' in the 19th century when people thought the phenomenon was caused by electric or magnetic attraction from within the hill. It's actually an optical illusion - the road slopes slightly uphill but appears to slope downhill. We met a few people stopping to test it out and enjoyed the fabulous views of Ailsa Craig and Culzean Castle.
