Robert MacQueen (1722-1799)
A famous Scottish judge, elevated to the bench with the title “Lord Braxfield”. He was much feared for the harshness of his sentences, and known throughout his career as “the hanging judge”.

A distinguished academic, he has held the chair of Scottish Studies at Edinburgh University for many years.
