Other forms of the name include Garn, Gardin, Dalgarn, and Jardine. A long running feud between the Gardynes and the Guthries saw the killings of a number of family members on each side. Some of the deaths have brought out contradictory versions of events from the two families, especially in regards to the murder of Patrick Gardyne of that Ilk by William Guthrie in 1578.
